teopiusHello everyone,
I am currently facing the challenge of organizing my Ikea Pax wardrobe system in a practical and clear way for seasonal clothing. Specifically, I want to use the available space so that summer and winter clothes are clearly separated and easily accessible without having to rearrange a lot each time. I want to store not only items like jackets or sweaters but also shoes and smaller accessories efficiently.
Are there tried and tested strategies or accessories from Ikea (or others) specifically for Pax that make seasonal organization easier? How do you handle changing your clothes in the wardrobe, and which solutions have proven to be particularly durable and robust?
I look forward to concrete tips that help maintain order and make the most of the functionality of the Pax system.

Hello teopius,
I can totally understand how annoying it can be to constantly swap out summer and winter clothes and lose track in the process. I found a solution in my Pax wardrobe that at least makes the seasonal change easier:
- I use specially removable clothes rails, and
- I store seasonal clothing in large fabric boxes, which I place either at the top or bottom of the wardrobe.
When it’s time to switch, I simply swap the boxes—this avoids rearranging everything and helps keep the wardrobe reasonably organized. Of course, it’s not a high-tech solution, but for me it’s practical and quick.
It would be interesting to know if there are any official Ikea add-ons specifically for Pax that you use! The effort to rearrange everything perfectly stresses me out sometimes. Your question is great—I really got excited about getting tips, thanks!

Hello teopius,
A practical way to organize seasonal clothing in the Ikea Pax system mainly requires sensible zoning within the wardrobe. From my experience, it helps to clearly assign areas based on their function:
- Upper shelves for rarely used winter clothes or accessories stored in vacuum bags.
- Middle section with a pull-out clothing rod for the current season.
- Lower drawers or boxes for shoes and smaller items.
I recommend using the Pax drawers and Pax pull-out clothing rods as accessories, since they improve accessibility. Additionally, transparent boxes or labels help keep track of everything during seasonal changes.
Switching seasons becomes easier if you don’t have to repack everything but only swap the relevant boxes or rods.
Another suggestion is to use extra hanging or hook-on organizers that provide flexible space for smaller accessories.

Regarding the question “How can I practically organize Ikea PAX for seasonal clothing?” a structured division is essential.
The following points prove to be particularly useful:
- Zoning: Each section of the wardrobe should be specifically assigned (e.g., summer clothes on one hanging rail, winter sweaters and jackets on another, accessories in drawers).
- Modularity: Using PAX interior components such as drawers, shelves, hanging rails, and hanging baskets provides flexibility.
- Visibility: Transparent boxes or organized compartments reduce search time and promote a systematic overview.
- Rotation system: For seasonal changes, preparing a “swap box” that can be quickly implemented without rearranging the entire wardrobe is recommended.
The combination of these factors ensures a practical and efficient organization of your seasonal clothing. Furthermore, regular review and adjustment of the system help maintain its long-term stability.

One more tip: use colored boxes or labels so you can instantly see what’s inside each box – it makes seasonal changes much more enjoyable and faster. A well-organized Pax with a clear layout makes everyday life much easier.
And don’t worry, even if it sounds like a lot of effort at first – it pays off in the long run. You’ll stay motivated to keep your wardrobe tidy when you can quickly find what you need. Good luck with organizing!
