Hello everyone,
I am about to move and want to protect my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets as best as possible. Since the cabinets are especially sensitive due to the doors and surface, I am looking for advice on how to prevent damage during transport.
Does anyone have experience with the best way to pack the cabinets or which materials work best to avoid scratches, dents, or other damage to the doors and sides?
I would also appreciate tips on whether it is better to disassemble the cabinets for safer protection or to transport them fully assembled.
Thank you in advance for your opinions and advice!

Is there a particularly recommended packing method or materials for this?My clever solution: place doors between two large pieces of thick cardboard and then wrap them in bubble wrap – this way, you have protection on both sides!
Don’t let the doors move around freely; secure them well or stand them upright against the side of the truck to avoid dents or scratches.

Any tips to make disassembling and reassembling more efficient?Label not only the parts but also the screws and small fittings in little bags. This way, you’ll find everything faster during assembly – and it really helps keep the mood positive when moving day gets stressful! 😉
I wonder if it might sometimes be more reasonable not to disassemble Metod cabinets at all. The effort involved is significant, and if you secure them properly, you can avoid scratches much more effectively.
Many people follow the principle: "The more you take apart, the better." However, the risk of losing screws or making mistakes during reassembly is considerable.
You should simply wrap the cabinets in thick quilts or blankets and secure them well, especially when they are part of a tight load in the moving truck.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this!

And hey – when putting them back together, you can be really proud if everything fits again and nothing got damaged! Just go for it, it will work! 😄
