ᐅ House Design – Your Opinions Wanted...

Hello dear forum members!
My husband and I are planning to build a small house... our current plan includes a knee wall height of 1.25 meters (4 feet) and a roof pitch of 40–45 degrees (gable roof).
No dormers and no basement.

I can’t open anything here, and maybe you could answer the standard questions (pinned post). That would make things much easier. Especially the site plan would be great! Building window / construction period, etc.

Here are a few initial observations I noticed at first glance:
- The ground floor feels quite compartmentalized to me.
- In my opinion, the utility room and technical room do not have enough usable space to be practical.
- I don’t really see room for a cloakroom that can accommodate a family of four.
- Whether you enter from the garage or the front door, you always have to carry your groceries quite a long way back to the pantry, which also offers little practical storage space.
- Very long corridor on the upper floor.
- I would consider adding a door between the dressing room and bedroom, so if one person wants to sleep in longer, the other can get dressed without disturbing them.
- The toilet on the upper floor could become a very dark and uncomfortable corner being so separated.

These were just the things that stood out to me spontaneously.

Well, the most important thing is actually the site plan and orientation, why the design is the way it is now, and whether the house is intended for a traditional family or possibly other household types.

Always remember: the more vague the information or question, the less meaningful the answer will be 😉

At first and second glance, I find it quite good, except for the trip hazard of the first stair step and the vestibule 🙂

Why do you think the wardrobe is too small? There are intentionally two niches in the entrance area for two sliding door closets measuring 2 m (6.5 ft) each, so that should be enough?! I hope this information also clears up the cramped impression...
The very long corridor upstairs actually came about because we wanted direct natural light...
There will be a sliding door between the dressing room and the bedroom.
The toilet could really turn out too dark...

What do you mean by tripping hazard, and what don’t you like about the entrance area?
