My wife and I were thinking over the weekend about how we want to handle the lighting. Neither of us are skilled tradespeople, and we don’t personally know an electrician who could help us. We have about 20 lamps to be installed throughout all rooms and corridors. How much should it roughly cost if an electrical company does the work on site? (This is not about purchasing the lamps, just the interior installation).

Before we request quotes, we want to get a general idea of the expected cost. The less knowledge you have, the higher the risk of being charged an excessive price (for example, the price range from different companies for installing a circulation pump was between 500 and 1500 euros net).

So, hanging a pendant light over the kitchen table is easy. But installing LED panels correctly and with the right polarity is important, otherwise they won’t work, wiring and installing outdoor spotlights with a dusk sensor, and so on, is not so simple. Also, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to either pick up your IKEA items yourself or choose delivery and assembly. If someone wants to pay for it, they should. The same applies to the kitchen light. Exactly. And hands up: how many of the DIY enthusiasts here own a set of VDE-compliant screwdrivers and pliers?

I usually leave electrical work and plumbing to the professionals as well

And what will the original poster do if the light bulb burns out? Call an electrician again?

Yes, if they want to and pay for it, why not! Some people also hand over their lawnmower for an oil change.

You’ll laugh! I had one of those crappy LEDs outside that was nearly impossible to replace!

Spent 2 hours messing around!

Almost called the electrician.

Some things, huh!
