Dear forum community,

Since I am currently in the middle of building my house and considering the lighting, I have decided to equip my home with LED bulbs.
Do you have experience with LED bulbs? Can you give me any advice or share what you are using?

Thank you in advance,

Yours, Nicole.

If you are building new anyway, you definitely need to go for LEDs.

I equipped my new build entirely with LEDs and I’m always impressed every time I turn the lights on.

Since I wanted my rooms to have the highest possible ceilings, I had to ensure that the suspended ceiling was as low as possible.

In this case, the only option was the GX53 system, using SMD LEDs! Compact fluorescent lamps were out of the question for me because of their long startup times and limited switching cycles.

I decided on the system from Z-LIGHT because they are the only ones that use a real glass cover, which looks truly great.

By the way, the spotlight is as bright as a 50W halogen. So don’t listen to everyone who says LEDs aren’t bright!

Don’t LEDs still have that unnatural light? They always seem to have a bluish tint, right?
If there were ones with natural light, they would be the best alternative!

Hello Xenja!
The magic word is "warm white" 🙂 That way you definitely won’t get any blue tint...
Also, you should make sure to use light bulbs with SMD chip LEDs. These are much brighter than the (older) standard LED types.
You can recognize them because they are very flat and look like a small yellow dot.

The GX53 system sounds interesting. How hot do they get, and how are they connected? Do you need transformers for them?
Unfortunately, I don’t know much about lighting, but if possible, I would like to install LED technology. To do that, I first need to know what I want... and the GX53 system almost sounds like what I’m looking for.
How much does a complete spotlight cost approximately?

Hello!
GX53 lamps operate on mains voltage. An SMD LED bulb of this type costs about 10 Euros, and the socket can be found cheaper or more expensive depending on the manufacturer, starting at around 5 Euros.
However, it should be considered that these are not dimmable.
