we are in the early stage of planning and would appreciate an open and honest opinion on our floor plan. Criticism and suggestions for improvement are welcome.

I would maybe do it like this... as the parking spaces/garage are now, it probably isn’t allowed anyway because one parking space would be blocked... remove the garage, place the secondary apartment’s parking space next to the secondary apartment, which is set back a bit so the living room can still get a window on the side...
