Hello,

here’s a topic that isn’t directly related to construction for once...

Somehow, the decoration craze caught us just before Christmas.

How have you decorated your "home" to get into the spirit of your (first) Christmas in your own house?

Here are a few pictures of how things look at our place right now – we’re looking forward to seeing many beautiful photos of your decoration ideas.

Frozen and More: I admit, I had to smile and can't get the grin off my face.

When our son was little, his room was overcrowded. The inhabitants were Pokémon. Later, the card decks and Yu-Gi-Oh followed.

With our daughter, we were punished twice over: Teletubbies and Bear in the Big Blue House, almost at the same time.
The loving grandpa (my father!) went out and came back with four large plush toys. All singing and twisting while performing the Lala song or the Teletubbies theme.
The bedding from that time resurfaced during the move.
Could it be thrown away? No! Both of our children (17 + 20) wanted to keep their bedding.
Including various stuffed animals—little Pop still sleeps in bed with us today. It's called a cult now!

My sister knows something similar. For her girls, it’s Monster High.

Everything is now sorted into A, B, and C quality. B and C items have only been touched for moving over the last two years. They will probably end up on eBay bit by bit.

I was just about to suggest that.
For us, it’s probably just two moving boxes in total. However, that includes Christmas tree baubles, tinsel, etc.

10 + 1 box: By any chance, did Stern TV (last night’s show) come to your place? They showed up with their Christmas surprise at a family’s house, and I would have run out screaming. Every room was filled with so much tacky Christmas decoration and clutter that you could almost get eye strain.

The Santa Claus looks as if he’s not made of earth but rather of "cow dung." Well – the main thing is it’s a "snow"man.

You don’t even want to know how much Christmas stuff we have. I brought one large box into the marriage. My wife maybe brought in 10 large boxes. That’s why, years ago, we declared a Christmas decorations ban on gifts. Now everything is sorted into A, B, and C grade. The B and C items have only been touched during the last two years when moving. They’ll probably end up on eBay little by little.

Yes, why didn’t you just get rid of everything before the move???

I packed one box, the rest went to the trash. And, okay, one box with string lights, but slimmed down—I used to repair light strings before LEDs by salvaging working bulbs from others and putting them into broken ones: all of those went to the trash during the move...

Last year, I filled a sideboard with all sorts of decorations, this year it looks like this, since the sideboard has now ended up in the office:

Open-plan kitchen decorated festively with string lights, candles, and Christmas decorations around a dark kitchen island.

The rest is in the Santa sacks by the door and on the cupboard.
The living room is a clutter-free zone! I don’t want decorations there, candles are enough!
Outside it looks like this:

White house with entrance, a star in the window, and a garden decorated with Christmas lights.

The tree in the front left still needs a light net, but that damn expensive thing I bought today is actually defective.

I think the Ore Mountains region needs to step up its marketing a bit. I haven’t seen Raachermanneln or Nutcrackers anywhere yet.

But this is still the window of the rental apartment. Hopefully that will change next year.

Well, that’s getting closer to Christmas in the Ore Mountains.
