Hello, for cost reasons we have now decided on uPVC windows.
However, I really don't like the glossy white plastic. :-(
Has anyone ordered these new decorative foil finishes and can share experiences or pictures?
I was thinking of matte white or wood white.
If anyone has them, I would appreciate any information.

This sounds like a precaution to avoid defects, but surely they are not serious or realistic about that? What about windows or patio doors, for example, facing south?

I agree with the original poster about avoiding uPVC for the front door, as it can sometimes look cheap. Tactile quality plays a big role here—just the feeling of something valuable. Probably, if I saw a good foil finish at a neighbor’s or elsewhere while standing outside, I wouldn’t even notice it, but for me, it’s my door, one that I open and close several times a day (not a cheap side door), and every time I touch it, I find it great. And if I ever get bored with it, I can always refresh it with some paint.
As for window frames, especially on the inside… I hardly notice them. Some people have curtains on both sides anyway, which we don’t, but I tend to look _out_ the window rather than at the frame. When I clean, I’m just glad I can wipe them properly.
P.S. Our house has now stood for five years with gray foil-wrapped exterior frames (north, east, south, and west). And everyone who’s not involved in building thinks it’s wood—although inside, they’re white and smooth (smooth, not glossy).
About the finish: last night, with our floor lamp by the window, I paid attention. It looked matte from the sofa, but when I got closer, I saw a smooth, let’s call it satin finish [emoji4].

The PVC here is indeed slightly satin matte. We have a plastic door in white, damaged by something like firecrackers, without a side panel, and it’s completely fine. For us, it’s more than good enough in terms of quality.
It’s a door—to grab, open, go through, and close. I find tactile pleasure more in a leather armchair, a wooden staircase, or our teak table.
Or in my wife? Karsten
