We have now finished the floor plans, and the electrical planning phase is starting. I expect there will be quite a few pencils and erasers used.
Do you have any tips on things that are often forgotten or important points to watch out for?
The basis will be the Busch-Jäger Free@Home system. In the first step, I want to plan the power outlets, then gradually the rest.

I have 5 sockets at the multimedia points that can be switched together, and another 5 that are always on, plus satellite/network/telephone (connected to the router in the basement) and audio. All are in use.
Why do you make sockets switchable?

It may be that we don’t have the need because of our devices, but since devices will continue to be upgraded with multimedia features in the future, I would prefer to invest in a power strip rather than a large number of individual sockets. This also works well with a lowboard.
Each bedroom as well as the kitchen also has a USB outlet with two ports. They are very popular with us. The kids use theirs every day. What are the USB outlets for? Do they connect to some kind of central data storage (home hard drive)?

We are not that far along with our electrical planning yet, but I will probably decide against having an excessive number of outlets. Devices are becoming smaller and multifunctional. At the same time, more and more cables and connectors are disappearing.
I originally planned to move our multimedia board exactly as it is, but also to significantly declutter it. No one really needs SCART splitters anymore, and the Xbox One has probably only been used twice in the last five years. We never used the VHS VCR, either. If we ever find an old tape, I’ll connect it to a laptop using an adapter.
Recently, I saw a sound system without any wired speakers. I’m not sure how developed that technology really is yet, but it got me thinking whether the average homeowner even needs to install dedicated speaker outlets anymore.
So my tendency is clearly that less is more.

Why do you make power outlets switchable? That way, I can cut the power to all devices that don’t need to be on all the time, like the TV, stereo system, CD player (yes, I still prefer a high-quality standalone unit, which my little one can already operate) and so on, all at once. Only the devices that need to remain on standby continue to receive power.
My parents use their VCR every day – and, surprise, it even plays HD when fed HD signals, despite the technology being 40 years old.
I’m definitely not a nostalgic person, but I do think some stages of technological development are worth questioning... Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, tablets, e-readers, docking stations for specific devices – along with that comes the obsession with home technology.
It’s nice that I can control the heating remotely, but why? My house is so slow to respond that it takes four days to cool down noticeably (especially during the screed drying phase).
Maybe I’m just too grumpy and skeptical and missing out on the new way of life? Also possible.

Why double TV? What are the audio outlets or what is planned there? Double TV so I can use the twin tuner. To record and watch at the same time.
Audio refers to the speaker wiring.
