Hello!
We have just started the groundworks, and I am currently in the middle of planning our ceiling spotlights. These should fully illuminate the living, dining, and kitchen area. We plan to attach KG caps to the precast concrete ceiling and lay the cables directly through conduits before having the concrete poured. We will handle drilling through the precast ceiling ourselves later on.
Now the question is how to arrange the spotlights. We are a bit uncertain about this. Our current idea is shown in the drawing! Is this sufficient? Which type of spotlights would be best to achieve an even, full illumination?

@andiman
You can also just have the boxes installed, and then you can connect the conduit yourself, as well as pull the cables through.
@Vitalio
There is the right tool for every job. I drilled the necessary holes for the boxes from below myself, but there was sometimes reinforcement in the way.
However, as I mentioned earlier, the best way is to have the boxes installed at the factory.
I wouldn’t recommend the effort you made either because it creates large holes in the precast concrete slab, which is not necessarily beneficial for the structural stability and also affects the appearance from below.

Hello,
I had the electrical boxes installed by the concrete supplier directly into the precast concrete slab. HaloX boxes were used. It didn’t cost me extra, so throughout the whole house I only have two regular lamps and 66 recessed spotlights (installed in the concrete ceiling downstairs and in the drywall ceiling upstairs).
I recommend dimmable 230 V LEDs. We practically always use the dimming function.
Best regards, torsan

By the way, I don’t believe it didn’t cost extra – maybe it wasn’t listed separately, but it definitely was charged. The boxes cost a few euros plus installation.

I would really call that crazy lighting obsession.

Not itemized separately. If anything, it was included under other items or paid for upfront.
