Hello,
we have built an insulated workshop. We only want to heat it with electricity when needed. The room is about 20 m² (215 sq ft) and 2.50 m (8.2 ft) high. My husband is considering an infrared heater. It is important that nothing can catch fire since there is a lot of wood dust in the workshop.

Does anyone have experience with the manufacturers or alternative ideas?

In my opinion, these oil-filled radiators, where an electric heating element warms the oil, are relatively safe and energy-efficient, as well as inexpensive. Karsten

Yes, we already have two of those. I thought they were not very effective. But maybe I was wrong?

When heating directly with electricity, there is essentially no difference in energy input. Where would the effective or ineffective energy come from? The difference is mostly in perception. A radiator heats the air and thus the room, while an infrared heater emits radiant heat that feels warm but actually heats the room less. That is why the "consumption" in rooms that are only heated sporadically is lower with the latter.

Well, from the efficiency – at least that's what I thought.

The exceptionally efficient Osram 60-watt combination heater has been banned by the EU. Having 20 of them provided warmth and daylight brightness.
