We have now finished the floor plans, and the electrical planning phase is starting. I expect there will be quite a few pencils and erasers used.

Do you have any tips on things that are often forgotten or important points to watch out for?

The basis will be the Busch-Jäger Free@Home system. In the first step, I want to plan the power outlets, then gradually the rest.

We have 4 outlets plus 2 LAN ports and still one outlet free despite using TV, PS3, and soundbar. We use Amazon Prime and internet radio.
For additional short-term needs, there is a power strip behind the soundbar.

What is connected to all 13 outlets? I’m having a hard time imagining that right now.

In my rental apartment: Fritzbox, NAS, 2 external hard drives, network switch, phone, AV receiver, TV, satellite receiver, Blu-ray player, Amazon Fire TV, remote control charging station, custom-built Ambilight.

That's actually 13 devices, which surprises me a bit ^^
At least half of these are supposed to be moved to the basement or other locations during the house construction.

The TV will have a separate outlet.

The following need to be connected at the lowboard:

  • Sat receiver
  • Blu-ray player
  • Apple TV
  • AV receiver
  • Subwoofer
  • PlayStation or similar
So, 6 power outlets plus the media outlets.

The Fritz Box, switch, and other devices are located in the utility room. Our TV does not require a stick, hard drives, or receiver. The Blu-ray player with 3D capability is integrated into the PS3. We do not have a charging station for the remote control, but one would fit next to the sofa.

TV, 5.1 system, satellite receiver, network player, Blu-ray player, Xbox, USB charger, Christmas lights, and so on. That already adds up to quite a bit...

It may be that we don’t need this because of our devices, but since the devices will be upgraded with multimedia features in the future, I would prefer to invest in a power strip instead of a large number of individual outlets. This also works well with a lowboard.

Each bedroom as well as the kitchen also have a USB outlet with two ports each. They are very popular with us. The kids use theirs every day.
