We have now finished the floor plans, and the electrical planning phase is starting. I expect there will be quite a few pencils and erasers used.

Do you have any tips on things that are often forgotten or important points to watch out for?

The basis will be the Busch-Jäger Free@Home system. In the first step, I want to plan the power outlets, then gradually the rest.

Why double TV? What are the audio outlets or what is planned there?

Double TV is for a twin tuner, but that fits into one outlet.
4x Cat cables for TV, satellite receiver, AV receiver, and Apple TV. There will also be a NAS connected later in the utility room.

Audio is for the speaker cables, a 5.1 system, and there are also outlets for the HDMI cables running to the TV.

It has already been mentioned here: power outlets for Christmas lights near the windows. We have those too, and these outlets are switchable. Especially at this time of year and with my wife’s decorating craze, it’s really great. In the evening, just flip the switch and the window lights and Christmas tree lights turn off.

The outdoor outlets are also switchable.

There is an additional switch for the garage door (open/close) inside the utility room.

When it comes to lighting or fixtures, don’t wait until the shell construction is finished. We have many recessed ceiling lights installed.

Here is my setup as well:
  • 3 power outlets (TV with built-in receiver, Blu-ray player, and soundbar with built-in subwoofer)
  • 1 antenna socket with two outputs (for the twin receiver)
  • 1 double LAN outlet for TV and Blu-ray player
I believe that sometimes less is more. The hard drive is connected directly to the TV and is powered through it. This means I don’t need to switch it off separately, as the TV automatically cuts power to the USB ports when turned off. The same applies to the Fire TV stick, which I still need on this TV because it does not support the Amazon app.

It’s also worth considering where to place the telephone (providing LAN and power outlets) and where mobile phones and tablets will be charged.

Yes, less can certainly be more... but if you have the full range of consumer electronics, then more outlets are simply necessary...

It’s also important to think about where to place the telephone (install an Ethernet outlet and power supply) and where the mobile phones and tablets will be charged.

For our small “handheld devices,” we use USB outlets.

The main telephone base station is located in the utility room next to the router and all the TV and CAT equipment. This setup largely prevents cable clutter for us.
Additional telephones with charging stations are available in the kitchen and on the upper floor.

Hello,

Exterior lighting:

- My neighbor illuminates his house from below. I like it better that way. No risk of dirt, and somehow it looks really cool!

Cheers, torsan

Hello,

could you please share some pictures of that?
I find it very interesting.

Thanks
