Hello, I spent some time researching this topic today. Until now, I was convinced that both the dishwasher and the washing machine should be connected to the hot water supply.

After reading various magazines and online forums, I have changed my mind. The issue with the washing machine is that hot water is only needed for the first wash cycle, not for rinsing, etc. So, a mixing valve would be necessary, which costs around 300 euros. Also, many types of clothing, such as wool, are washed with cold water.

The same applies to the dishwasher. Since it uses very little water, it’s not really cost-effective. Additionally, protein residues, for example, are better washed away with cold water rather than hot. It would also be better for the dishes, as there would be no thermal shock.

What do you think? Keep it or not?
