ᐅ Rainwater Harvesting Cistern for Garden Irrigation – Which Pump Should I Use?

Greetings!

I am gradually starting to plan the garden irrigation for my soon-to-be-completed house. For now, I want to keep it simple and non-smart: a cistern (6,000 liters) is installed underground, and I plan to water the garden conventionally using a pump and garden hose. The farthest lawn area will be reachable with about 35 to 40 meters (115 to 130 feet) of hose length. The cistern is located at the lowest point, about 2.50 meters (8 feet) underground.

Now I am facing a confusing variety of possible pumps: suction pump, dirty water pump, submersible pump, garden pump, deep well pump... several thousand liters per hour, various pressure ratings in bar... Does anyone have good advice?

I personally know of three installations with the Tipp (AUT). They have been running for years without any problems.

Are the pumps simply placed on the bottom of the cistern? It is basically a pump designed for a well. Some pumps come with a frame to keep them slightly elevated or have a float mechanism for surface water extraction. Alternatively, have you considered installing the pump suspended by a rope?

I have the Gardena, and it is hung just above the ground using a cable.

Hanging just above the floor by rope or chain.

Currently, the cover of the cistern is still below the height level that the garden will later reach or should reach. Are there any extension rings or an attractive top piece for this? Does anyone have something like that?
I have understood the rest so far. I will now measure all the required lengths and then order everything. It should be doable.

Why do you want to use a large deep well pump in a cistern? I would recommend an automatic submersible pressure pump for this. These are also much more robust than pumps with 7 or 8 stages. I would suggest the Gardena 6100/5 inox. It also offers an optional floating intake and is available for just under 250€ with a 5-year warranty.

There are extension rings or telescopic roof access shafts.
