Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the assembly of a Pax wardrobe system and trying to optimize the costs as much as possible. The question I have is: Can I save money when building a Pax wardrobe without compromising on quality or functionality?

I am especially interested in tips for purchasing affordable yet suitable shelves, doors, and rails, as well as possible savings on tools or installation. Are there any recommended alternatives to the original parts from Ikea or experiences with used components? Advice on self-assembly versus professional installation would also be helpful.

Maybe there are strategies that are not immediately obvious, such as modular construction, swapping individual parts, or special discount offers. I look forward to your experiences and suggestions!

I would say that a basic skill level in furniture assembly is necessary. If you have experience assembling furniture and can work accurately, this is definitely doable.

It is important to handle the parts in an organized manner and allow sufficient time. Having help to hold and adjust pieces makes the process much easier. If you feel uncertain, you can also prepare the parts yourself and then arrange for professional support during the installation.

For standard Pax installations, basic handyman skills are usually sufficient. Take your time and proceed calmly. Once you have read through everything, it will work out.

To reduce costs, I also recommend shopping at the right time:

- Ikea often has seasonal discounts or special offers on Pax components
- Discontinued models may be marked down
- Vouchers or membership bonuses can provide additional savings

Long-term planning combined with such promotions significantly lowers the overall expenses.

Exactly, I have also always benefited from purchasing during sales or special offers. It helps to keep a list of desired components and only act when really good conditions arise.

Important to remember: Only buy what you actually need; otherwise, the savings quickly become meaningless.
