House Design
- Do-it-yourself

Why is the design as it is now?
We considered all the desired rooms.
Access from terrace directly to kitchen and bathroom.

The main house will have a gable roof to allow attic space for storing boxes. The pull-down staircase can be installed in the long hallway. The part with the covered terrace will have a flat roof. However, we are not sure if having two types of roof will be expensive.
We also like a modern gable roof with trapezoidal metal roofing. This should be quite affordable… does anyone have experience with that?
I attached a picture of various houses that inspired us.

Does anyone have a rough idea of the cost? We are still very early in the process and many builders are reluctant to provide quotes due to uncertain material prices.

Construction is planned for 2023.

Hello, I hope I have optimized the floor plan.

On the upper floor, there will be a small bathroom with a shower and a children's room.

On which upper floor? The staircase, which might be roughly indicated there on the ground floor, can only be a maximum of 190 cm (75 inches) wide with walls.

Maybe edit the screenshot by removing the unnecessary top and bottom margins and add the property boundaries with a north arrow to the drawing.

So, once again.
The staircase definitely still needs improvement….

Sorry, but where exactly does one arrive on the upper floor? And what type of roof does the building have? Also, what was the site layout and its orientation again?

The front door faces north.
The house is planned as a bungalow with a recessed upper floor.

Why are you placing the staircase right in the middle of the house? Why not position it between the living room and the office? That way, you would have a nice, open hallway instead of that awkward, cramped space. Besides, a staircase doesn’t necessarily have to be the most visually prominent feature in the house. As it is now, it’s really being put right in everyone’s face.

Also, your living area hallway will be quite dark. If you removed that unnecessary connecting door, it would look better—especially since you’ll probably keep the door open anyway.
