Hello,

My partner (32) and I (31) are moving into a semi-detached house this summer. The semi-detached house was inherited.
We are now considering how to arrange the bedroom. I took a photo of the floor plan along with our current ideas. We think that a corner wardrobe solution would be best to maximize the available space in this room. For the wardrobe system, we want to use Sinfonie Plus with sliding doors from Staud – maybe someone here has experience with that? The floor is beech laminate, which we plan to keep for now.

The bed is a solid wood bed in white, with a country style. There are pine trim boards at both the foot and head ends in natural pine. We have two white bedside tables from Ikea’s Hemnes series, also made of real wood, and a Hemnes dresser which currently doesn’t have a place yet (W 57cm (22 inches), D 39cm (15 inches), H 130cm (51 inches)). My partner would ideally like to have the two dressers I currently have placed in the hallway moved into the bedroom, but I don’t think that will be possible.

Does anyone have ideas on how we could arrange the room cleverly?

I would place the planned cabinets as already intended. I am not familiar with the corner cabinet, but I do know the cabinet system from Rauch with their walk-in corner solution, which offers a lot of space. That might be something to consider. I don’t find placing the dresser next to the nightstand very cozy. Could it fit under a window? Or diagonally in the window corner?

Built-in wardrobe at the bottom of the plan. Opposite, about one meter (120cm, 47 inches) away from the wardrobe, there are dressers serving as room dividers. These dressers are accessible from the wardrobe side and also arranged "back to back" facing the bed. The bed is on the left side of the plan. Opposite the door is a large mirror. This setup provides a room divider while allowing light at the wardrobe and offers a spacious surface for folding clothes.

Hello everyone,

What do you think about the idea of using wall cabinets instead of the dresser?
They don’t take up any floor space and also look very nice.

You can definitely find wall cabinets in the same style as the dresser at Ikea as well.

Best regards

Hello, thanks for all the responses. We will take a look at the corner solution from Rauch. What is the approximate price range for Rauch? The corner unit from Staud is around 500€ (about 540 USD). The dresser from Ikea, type Hemnes, would only fit diagonally to the right of the window; we prefer not to place it under the window because it is 130 cm (51 inches) high and would block the window.

Using dressers as room dividers is really a very good idea, but back-to-back placement is not possible because then the bed would shift too far toward the window, and there would be a window directly behind the bed. My bed’s headboard is 95 cm (37 inches) high, which would prevent opening the window, for example, to clean it. However, we have another idea. There is another room on the upper floor. I have attached a few options for you, which might inspire some new discussions.

The "dresser 80 cm" is 77 cm (30 inches) high and 80 cm (31 inches) wide.
The "dresser 108 cm" is a Hemnes measuring W 108 cm x D 50 cm x H 130 cm (W 43 x D 20 x H 51 inches).
The "dresser 57 cm" is the existing Hemnes dresser with W 57 cm x D 39 cm x H 130 cm (W 22 x D 15 x H 51 inches).
The "nightstands 54 cm," one of which we already have, is also a Hemnes with W 54 cm x D 38 cm x H 66 cm (W 21 x D 15 x H 26 inches).

The bed is already owned, as well as the 57 cm dresser and one 54 cm nightstand. We want to spend a maximum of 2000€ (about 2150 USD) on the remaining furniture. Currently, we have a Pax wardrobe and a walk-in room for clothes. A Pax would be our second choice because I find the sliding doors a bit unstable. So far, we have looked at Staud and Nolte as companies. Do you have any experience with them? Are they worth the extra money compared to Ikea, or are there other companies in this price range?

The Rauch corner cabinet is not exactly inexpensive. I believe it was just under 900 € (about 950 USD).

The Pocco-Domäne offers this system. It’s cheapest there. Rauch Dimension 4.

Personally, I find the furniture in this series to be of higher quality than the Pax series. Also, the corner solutions are much better thought out. The other options I find to be “classic” and practical. There are several very nice fronts available. Additionally, the cabinets are quite tall.

Doesn't Roller also have the smoke series? I mean, a colleague mentioned it...
