Hello, I bought two Besta benches (120x49x26cm (47x19x10 inches)) to use as a lowboard. Unfortunately, these Besta benches only come with drawers and no flap doors. I want to modify the drawer fronts so that I can open them from top to bottom. Sounds simple... I have already got the cup hinges, but I cannot find suitable slides or rails anywhere—neither at hardware stores nor specialist retailers—that prevent the flap from dropping down freely when opened.

I am urgently looking for appropriate slides to attach to the sides that will slow down or soften the opening of the flap. The problem is that the compartments of the Besta benches are only about 19-20 cm (7.5-8 inches) high, and I can’t find any damping slides that fit, as all those I have found so far require a minimum height of 25 cm (10 inches).

I have also seen round guide rails in cabinets or shelving units for flap doors, which run through a plastic part attached to both sides of the compartment. That would work as well.

Can anyone please help me? Is there perhaps a suitable solution from Ikea? Or any other suggestions?

Thank you very much!

Check out Blum.at. It lists everything important about hinges, including damping systems and more.
