ricardoHello,
I’m really getting frustrated. I used the Pax planner to design the PAX corner wardrobe with the Vikedal mirrored door and soft-closing hinges and have purchased everything. But I just can’t get the door installed.
First of all, I’m confused about the hinges. According to the planner, I need these:
And I have bought exactly these. The item number 00214505 matches on the packaging, but: they look completely different from the hinges shown in the picture above on the website.
What does this mean? Are the wrong hinges in the package? Or is the image on the IKEA website incorrect or outdated?
I have tried using the separately purchased hinges (so not the ones supplied with the corner wardrobe). That doesn’t work. First, the door doesn’t close softly by itself when you shut it, and secondly, if you push it fully closed, it opens slightly again. That can’t be right.
I’d appreciate any quick help.

IKEA-Experte24 Sep 2015 23:18Hello,
the website still shows the hinges made by Blum (Austria). You have the ones from Lama (Slovenia). These would also fit, except when it’s a corner cabinet. For the corner cabinet carcass, hinges are provided and also shown in the assembly instructions. You must have another bag with hinges lying around somewhere.

Hello IKEA expert,
thank you for your reply.
Yes, the corner cabinet even came with three bags, each containing three hinges. That’s for three doors, since corner cabinets rarely stand alone. They fit as well (I tried them). But as I mentioned in my original post, I want the soft-closing hinges. Why don’t these fit in the corner cabinet? According to the PAX planner, that didn’t seem to be a contradiction. Well, as with software, it could of course be a bug. But I don’t know for sure.
Is it simply not possible to use soft-closing hinges in the corner cabinet?

IKEA-Experte25 Sep 2015 00:37IKEA does not provide any damping for the corner cabinet. Combined with the push-to-open mechanism, it is also not practical.
If the hinges are still from Blum, dampers are available from hardware suppliers.

Hi IKEA expert,
What is the push-to-open system? Is it supposed to be included?

IKEA does not offer any soft close mechanism for the corner cabinet. Combined with the push-to-open system, it also doesn’t make sense.
If the hinges are still from Blum, there are dampers available from hardware suppliers.

IKEA-Experte26 Sep 2015 20:44There always seems to be something wrong with the planner. At least you can return the hinges with a receipt unlimited times.
