Hello everyone, I am considering buying some IKEA PLATSA furniture for my home and am particularly interested in models with wheels. My question is: Are there any versions or extensions of the IKEA PLATSA furniture that come equipped with wheels or are designed to be easily moved? I haven’t been able to find clear information about this online, and I’m especially curious if there are official IKEA solutions, such as drawer-like modules on wheels or complete cabinets with wheels, that enhance convenience and flexibility. Maybe someone here knows about this or has practical experience? Thanks in advance for any helpful feedback!

Is there any experience from the community on how to do this in practice without damaging the modules?

From a technical perspective, I recommend the following: Use furniture caster wheels with fixed mounting plates that can be secured with multiple screws to a sturdy base. The challenge is that PLATSA units are mainly made from wood-based panels with reduced thickness, so directly screwing casters onto the cabinet frame often causes weak or fragile spots.

Solution:
- Build a solid intermediate frame or base plate under the cabinet that is firmly connected to the furniture in several places.
- Attach the casters to this stable support structure, not directly to the thin cabinet frame.

This approach helps prevent material fatigue caused by load. Additionally, I suggest using casters with brakes and rubber treads to avoid scratching laminate or hardwood floors. For those skilled in DIY, this method also allows larger PLATSA units to be made mobile without compromising daily stability.

In short: Officially, PLATSA does not come with casters. However, with suitable furniture casters and a sturdy base structure, this works without any issues. Important: Use casters with brakes to prevent accidents.

Hello, I find the discussion here really helpful! 😄 If you need a bit more flexibility with furniture, it’s often worth getting creative yourself. IKEA parts are very modular, and it’s usually quite easy to attach casters, especially with PLATSA because they’re nicely rectangular and fit well together.

My advice: Try out different casters, maybe even with various functions, and then build the right base depending on the furniture’s weight. This way, you’ll have a mobile solution for every situation without having to buy a completely new system.

Good luck with your project!
