ᐅ Are there Ikea PAX wardrobes with soft-close doors and drawers?

KisanGood morning everyone,
My question is about the well-known IKEA PAX wardrobe system. I would like to know if there are PAX wardrobes with integrated soft-close doors and drawers. I am aware that IKEA offers many variations of door and drawer systems, but I am specifically looking for the version that features soft-close mechanisms on both doors and drawers – meaning a comfortable, quiet, and gentle closing without the typical slamming.
Does anyone have experience with the current models or can say if this soft-close function is available as a standard option for PAX? If it can only be retrofitted with accessories, that would also be useful to know.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

I’d be happy to provide a more detailed explanation:
IKEA’s PAX wardrobes do offer soft-close hinges for both doors and drawer systems, but these are not always included as standard and are often sold as an upgrade or accessory. The soft-close feature is achieved through special damping mechanisms that literally slow down the closing process, reducing noise and allowing for a gentle close.
Here are some important points to consider:
- Not all door models come with soft-close as standard; you need to check for the appropriate hinges or mechanisms.
- For drawers, there are soft-close adapters or drawer slides with built-in damping.
- Installation: Retrofitting soft-close is possible but can be technically challenging and requires precise alignment.
- Depending on whether you prefer doors with handles, push-to-open, or handle-less doors, the availability of the soft-close function may vary.
If you’d like, I can provide an overview of the available fittings or offer tips on what to look out for when purchasing, especially regarding compatibility with your PAX model (depth, width, etc.).
What dimensions or variants are you considering? That way, I can explain things more specifically.

You can actually buy the soft-close fittings separately and install them on the wardrobe, but often they can also be ordered directly if you look for the right options.
And honestly, who likes it when a door suddenly slams shut like in a horror movie? 😉
A little tip: It’s sometimes worth browsing the existing models, because what wasn’t standard yesterday is often available with soft-close today — IKEA usually adopts these features quite quickly.
Good luck with your PAX adventure!
