Hello everyone,
I am considering purchasing a Pax wardrobe system from Ikea, but I am especially interested in models where the exterior doors are actually made of wood. So far, my research has mainly revealed doors made of painted MDF or other coated materials, but not explicitly solid wood or at least wood veneer.
I am particularly curious if Ikea offers any Pax variants with doors made of real wood—whether solid wood or veneered wood—or if the range exclusively uses other materials.
If anyone has experience or reliable information on this, I would be very grateful. Suggestions for possible alternatives inside or outside of Ikea are also welcome.
Thanks in advance!

For clarification:
Ikea uses three-layer laminated particleboard or MDF panels as standard for PAX, coated with melamine foil, lacquer, or wood veneer finish, so they are not solid wood panels.
Real wood doors are not offered in the range due to considerations of price, weight, and durability.
A practical alternative is to have doors custom-made by specialized suppliers who produce compatible wood options with appropriate hardware.
This often requires adjustments and may be somewhat more expensive, but it offers the possibility to equip PAX with real wood doors.

Do you know if these suppliers are reliable and if the prices are still within an acceptable range, or is this more of a niche market with a corresponding premium?
I have no experience with cabinet doors outside of Ikea and their connection or assembly systems.

The price is naturally higher than Ikea’s, as you are basically paying for custom-made wooden doors. Depending on the type of wood and finish, you should expect to pay about two to three times the Ikea price.
However, if you want to avoid the effort of working with a carpenter, this is a very practical solution.

I think I will continue to look into it, as the material quality is important to me and the additional cost still seems reasonable.
Many thanks to everyone for the helpful information!
