ᐅ Are there any Ikea PAX furniture units that come pre-assembled?

Hello everyone, I am currently considering buying a wardrobe from the Ikea PAX system, but I have a specific question: Does Ikea offer the option to have PAX furniture delivered partially assembled? I mean furniture that does not arrive solely as individual parts in a flat pack but where at least some larger modules or even entire frames are pre-assembled to make the setup easier or faster.

So far, I have found that PAX is primarily sold as a flat-pack system, but since I have limited time and assembling large wardrobes is often quite challenging, I am curious whether there are specific PAX models or perhaps regional service options that include this partial assembly either as standard or for an additional fee.

Does anyone have experience with this or know about deliveries where the furniture was at least partially pre-assembled? How does Ikea generally handle transport and assembly regarding PAX? Thanks in advance for the information!

Regarding delivery service: If you have trouble with assembly, the IKEA assembly service is definitely worth considering. Professionals will build the cabinets for you – however, not pre-assembled in advance.

Hey, I recently faced the same question! 😊 Unfortunately, Ikea PAX wardrobes almost always come as flat packs. Still, I didn’t find it as bad as I expected because the system is really well designed.

I opted for the assembly service right away – that helped me a lot since I didn’t have the time or extra hands for such a project. If you don’t want to go that route, try assembling the wardrobe on-site or with friends.

But yes, fully pre-assembled deliveries are rare or don’t really exist.

That’s exactly the point. I want to mention that the PAX systems are extremely versatile when it comes to the frame and interior fittings – which means that even the “basic elements” come in parts that need to be assembled on site.

There are several technical reasons against pre-assembly:
- Large finished frame dimensions make transport difficult, especially through narrow staircases or smaller elevators.
- The risk of damage to surfaces and finished components during transport is significantly higher.
- The flexibility for end customers through modular configuration would otherwise be heavily limited.

Partial pre-assembly, such as doors pre-attached to the frame, is possible in some cases through the service but is not standard. I recommend that if you really want a pre-assembled solution, instead of PAX consider ready-made wardrobes (for example, METOD kitchen modules) more closely.

Thanks for asking! I’m planning about 150 cm (60 inches) wide and 236 cm (93 inches) high, so quite large for a bedroom. Unfortunately, time is tight as I’m very busy with work. That’s why I’m considering the assembly service offer but am unsure if it really reduces the effort, since I would still have to put everything together myself after delivery.

Are there any experiences on how long the assembly takes for a wardrobe of this size if you do it yourself? Some reports say between 3 and 6 hours.

And if anyone knows whether, typically, with large PAX wardrobes the doors come preassembled or are delivered completely separately, I’d appreciate any information!
