SvenmoHello everyone,
I have an issue with my IKEA Besta furniture. Some spare parts I urgently need are apparently no longer available from IKEA. My question is therefore: What exactly should I do if spare parts for IKEA Besta are no longer obtainable? Are there alternative sources or strategies to still acquire or replace such parts? I would appreciate any tips, as I do not want to replace the entire piece of furniture.
Thank you in advance!

Hey Svenmo,
sometimes IKEA actually discontinues spare parts, which can be really frustrating. My advice: first check with IKEA customer service, as there might still be leftover stock or alternative parts available.
If that doesn’t work, you could look on online forums or platforms like eBay—there are often people selling exactly those spare parts. Sometimes a bit of DIY with small modifications is needed.
It sounds complicated, but you can usually find a solution. Good luck and keep at it!

I agree with Samuel – sometimes the secret tip is to find old Besta modules cheaply at flea markets or classified ads and then remove the missing parts. I once managed to save a piece of furniture for a similar problem by getting a small batch of leftover stock.
Of course, it takes patience, but it also brings a bit of DIY fun along. 🙂

As a supplement: IKEA often offers spare parts only for a limited time after a product is discontinued, usually 5 to 10 years. Once this period has expired, official sources for parts become scarce.
The following steps are recommended:
- Contact IKEA customer service to inquire about possible compatible spare parts.
- Use second-hand marketplaces where original parts may be available.
- Consider third-party suppliers who produce compatible parts with similar dimensions.
- In extreme cases, modify or replace the defective component by custom fabrication.
The effort involved can vary greatly depending on the complexity and the specific component.
