Hello everyone,
I have an issue with my IKEA Besta furniture. Some spare parts I urgently need are apparently no longer available from IKEA. My question is therefore: What exactly should I do if spare parts for IKEA Besta are no longer obtainable? Are there alternative sources or strategies to still acquire or replace such parts? I would appreciate any tips, as I do not want to replace the entire piece of furniture.
Thank you in advance!

In extreme cases, adjustment or replacement of the defective component by custom fabrication. That sums it up well! Sometimes a bit of DIY work is really the last resort. đ
And I would recommend not being too strict during the search â sometimes a part fits with minor modifications if you stay flexible.
I believe IKEA should be held more accountable when replacement parts are no longer available. The lifespan of a piece of furniture depends heavily on this.
This is too short, especially for customers who want to use their furniture for a longer time. Additionally, there is often a lack of transparent information about how long replacement parts will be available.

IKEA often offers replacement parts only for a limited period after a product is discontinued, usually 5 to 10 years.

Regarding spare parts procurement: I recommend first contacting IKEA customer service, either by phone or in person with the furniture item. Sometimes individual spare parts can still be found through their internal inventory.
If that doesnât work, there are online platforms specializing in used furniture partsâoften combined with self-pickup. Another option is to get in touch with local carpentry workshops, which can often help manufacture a replacement part to measure.
The effort is usually worth it compared to buying new.

If IKEA no longer has the part, how realistic is it to turn to third-party suppliers or have a part custom made? Does anyone have experience with how expensive or complicated that can be?
Third-party suppliers often use similar materials, with prices sometimes up to 50% of the original cost. Custom-made items from a joiner or carpenter are usually more expensive but worthwhile for important components.
It is also worth looking for used parts or leftover stock, which are often cheaper.

Itâs fun and you learn a lot. đ
But of course, it depends on the broken part.
