Hello everyone,

I have a few PLATSA furniture pieces from IKEA at home and was wondering if anyone in the forum has tips or experience with cleaning the surfaces?

It’s important to me not to use anything that could damage the laminate or the special surface coatings. I’m especially interested in the best way to remove stubborn stains like grease or dried-on liquids without harming the surface.

So far, I’ve mostly used a damp cloth and some mild dish soap, but I’m hoping for more effective methods that protect the surfaces and don’t cause any long-term damage.

Does anyone have recommendations for cleaning products, tools, or techniques that work well specifically for IKEA PLATSA? Thanks in advance for your help!

It is best to use a damp microfiber cloth and a mild dish detergent. Avoid harsh cleaners or abrasive materials.

For stubborn stains, a few drops of glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol can help, but use sparingly and with caution.

Hello liszar,

I understand your caution, as the surfaces of IKEA PLATSA are not very resistant to aggressive cleaning agents.

In general, I recommend the following:

- Use only lukewarm water with a neutral dish detergent. This is usually sufficient.
- A soft microfiber cloth or a lightly dampened sponge is ideal.
- Avoid abrasive sponges or steel wool, as they can scratch the surface.
- For stubborn stains, you can try a mixture of water and vinegar in a 1:1 ratio.

An important tip: Always wipe in the direction of the grain or texture of the material to prevent micro-scratches.

Please test any new cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area before cleaning the entire surface.

I hope this helps!

Hello everyone! 😊

I really like PLATSA furniture, and cleaning it is actually easy if you pay attention to a few details!

What I always do:
- Avoid harsh cleaning agents, as mentioned before
- Use a slightly damp microfiber cloth, which is usually enough
- For stubborn stains, I use a little diluted alcohol; it works well most of the time and leaves no marks!

One more tip: If you wipe fresh stains immediately, you’ll have much less effort later. I love when the furniture looks shiny and well-maintained!

Good luck to you all!!

For targeted removal of grease stains, I recommend first cleaning the area with a mild dish soap and a soft cloth. If that is not sufficient, a cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol works well to dissolve grease without harming the finish. It is important to wipe the area afterwards with clean water to remove any residues.

I agree with this, but you should avoid denatured alcohol if the surface is sensitive or has a matte finish. Always test in an inconspicuous spot first and start with gentle cleaning agents.

Additionally, a gentle melamine foam sponge (without the abrasive side) can help with very stubborn stains if rubbed very carefully.

It is also important not to use harsh chemicals such as ammonia or chlorine-based cleaners.

I hope these tips help you, liszar.
