Hello everyone, I am currently looking into Malm furniture from IKEA, specifically dressers and beds. I’m interested in which spare parts are most commonly requested for these pieces, as I am considering offering a spare parts service and want to know where to focus. Are there typical wear parts or frequently defective components that are needed more often? I’m interested in both mechanical parts, such as rails or screws, and other components. Thanks for your experiences and insights!

Additionally:

I have researched that with Malm furniture, the stoppers for the drawer slides often need to be replaced. These small rubber or plastic pieces cushion the closing of the drawers and prevent them from slamming shut. If these are missing or damaged, the guide rails can quickly become damaged.

The connecting hinges on cabinet doors are also important, with wear occurring especially on older products.

Stoppers and hinges are on my list. Easy to replace and often necessary.

This is exactly the point: missing or broken stoppers cause consequential damage, which is considerably more expensive to replace. Therefore, I recommend that owners of Malm furniture regularly check these small wear parts and replace them in time.

Additionally, the inside of the drawer is often stressed, especially the suspension mechanisms in shirt drawers or drawer dividers. However, these are less commonly replaced parts because they are subjected to less mechanical stress.

In summary: drawer slides, stoppers, screws, hinges, and furniture feet. These basically cover the most important components.

As a technical addition: Replacement parts for slatted frame holders and screw connections on the bed frame are often sought for Malm beds. Stability is critical here, and wear over time can cause the structure to become wobbly.

In furniture construction, these connection points are always weak spots, especially if the bed is frequently moved or reassembled. Therefore, it is worthwhile to stock these spare parts as well if you want to offer comprehensive service.

This is an important technical note. Especially with beds that are frequently disassembled and reassembled, it is essential to pay attention to the quality and condition of the connection fittings.

I would also be interested to know if anyone has experience with aftermarket replacement parts, particularly for the drawer slides. Do they always fit properly, or are there issues with compatibility and load capacity?
