For Ikea PLATSA, I recommend the original replacement part set from Ikea itself. The screws and connectors are specially designed. Otherwise, standard 5mm (0.2 inch) dowels and 4mm (0.16 inch) screws are compatible in most cases. For corner connectors, standard fittings from furniture construction, which you can find at hardware stores, are suitable.

- Repair kits with 6 mm (1/4 inch) round dowels, flat connectors, and Spax screws of 4-5 mm (5/32 - 3/16 inch) thickness
- Kits that use wood connectors with countersunk heads, as many PLATSA drill holes are designed specifically for these

PLATSA has pre-drilled holes for dowels with a diameter of 6mm (0.24 inches); here, solid wood dowels are preferred over plastic dowels due to better stability. Flat connectors with M6 threads often provide the best connection between individual elements based on my experience.
