Hello everyone,

I am currently planning my new apartment and am particularly interested in the IKEA Platsa furniture series. Since my storage space is very limited, I have the following question: Are there versions or drawer units in the IKEA PLATSA range that feature raised drawers, which would create more storage space?

It is especially important for me to know if there are precise solutions that are not only visually taller but also actually increase storage volume, without having to rely on additional shelves or external storage.

I would really appreciate detailed information, recommendations, or sharing of experiences on this topic!

Basically, the PLATSA system is modular, offering a lot of flexibility. However, the drawers come in standardized heights, for example, 20, 30, or 40 cm (8, 12, or 16 inches).

As far as I know, there are no so-called "raised" drawers with greater depth or volume than the usual sizes. Instead, storage space can be increased by combining more drawer modules or similar parts, not by a special "raised" drawer variant.

Also: How do you define "raised"? Do you mean a higher front panel or more internal space? The distinction can be important because a taller front does not automatically mean more storage capacity.

The PLATSA drawers are standardized. However, you can install several drawers stacked vertically to create additional storage space. There is no extra-high drawer available.

I combined several drawers with PLATSA. The volume increases by adding more elements, not by using deeper drawers. So: No, deeper drawers are not available.

Additional information: IKEA PLATSA is modular in design. According to official product details, the drawer units have fixed heights, usually 20 cm (8 inches) or 30 cm (12 inches). The system does not offer individual drawers with increased volume that provide more storage space than the standardized modules.

For optimizing space, it is therefore recommended to use additional drawer modules or combinations with shelf inserts.

A taller front panel often only changes the appearance; the internal drawer height remains the same. This is important to consider when purchasing.

Hey! I designed my own PLATSA combination and I can say: super practical, especially since you can basically stack drawers on top of each other as you like!

Unfortunately, there aren’t any drawers with extra height. But that’s not a big problem, because it allows you to organize your drawers exactly the way you want.

If you need extra storage space, simply use multiple units. That’s how I solved it and I’m very happy with it 😊!
