Hello everyone,

I would like to know the best way to use the IKEA Platsa system to make the most of my space. My apartment has rather unusual layouts and some slanted walls, which sometimes makes furnishing a bit challenging.

My specific question: Which module sizes and configurations of Platsa do you recommend to efficiently create storage while keeping the look from becoming too cluttered?

Are there any best practices for combining open and closed elements within Platsa to accommodate different uses (e.g., books, clothing, multimedia)?

Additionally, I’m interested if anyone has tips on how to handle installation and adjustments for niches or sloped ceilings without requiring extensive modifications.

I’m really looking forward to your experiences and recommendations to help me get the best out of Platsa.

If you want to make the most of PLATSA, first measure your room height and width accurately, then choose modules that fit well together in height.

Open compartments are suitable for frequently used items, while closed ones provide dust protection.

For sloped ceilings, simply arrange the units so that the lower modules are placed directly under the slope.

Hello teofar44,

first, it is important to accurately determine your specific dimensions and intended uses. IKEA PLATSA offers different module depths (35 cm (14 inches) and 58 cm (23 inches)), heights, and widths, giving you many options for combinations.

- For niches and sloped ceilings, I recommend the smaller and shallower modules, which are easier to adapt.
- Use closed cabinets for clothing or delicate items and open shelves for books or decorative objects to create a dynamic appearance.
- Planning should always include a combination of modules with doors, drawers, and shelves to meet various storage needs.
- I would also suggest considering corner combinations if your room allows it. This way, you can make effective use of corners without losing much space.

Regarding assembly: make sure to cut the back panels precisely if you need to adjust for heating pipes or sloped ceilings – sometimes a utility knife and a steady hand can help. Additionally, thanks to the flexibility of the modules, it is sometimes possible to use separate plinths or wall brackets to adapt the furniture to your room layout.

How much room volume do you have available, and what exactly do you want to store?

Exactly! Corners are often overlooked treasure chests for gaining storage space.

Additionally, I would suggest adding some personal touches with open shelves so the wardrobe doesn’t look like a bulky block. Bringing a bit of life into it makes the whole thing not only practical but also cozy.

And don’t be afraid of modular variety – you can always buy more PLATSA units or reconfigure them later. So just try it out and have fun!
