Good morning,

I just registered and hope I can quickly find and read your answers (if there are any)!

My partner and I are building a house, and our meeting with the architect is coming up soon.
I am really fascinated by the topic of lighting design and would love to implement some of it in our home (indirect lighting, LED strips, spotlights, etc.).
Now I’ve learned how expensive it all is (LED spotlights starting at 450 euros, if you want to install them recessed in the ceiling, etc.).
Do you have any tips on how to do this relatively inexpensively?
I think you can do a lot with affordable adhesive LED strips, right? But don’t they start to look cheap and peel off over time? Also, having cables running everywhere is a big no for me! Has anyone had experience with this?

I look forward to your answers!!

Could you please explain why and what your suggestion is?

From what I have read here, a recessed spotlight costs between 70 and 250 euros. Can someone please comment on this?

I paid around 25€ material + 24€ for embedding a 180mm (7 inch) Kaiser haloX housing into the delicate ceiling.
Additional costs include the cable and installation inside the ceiling.
I pulled the cable myself.
Overall, you should expect about 75€ (DIY) to 130€ for professional installation.
I also used a few 240mm (9.5 inch) housings for Dolby Atmos 5.2.4, as well as several speakers in the kitchen, bathrooms, and dining area.
It’s important to consult with a structural engineer or simply reinforce around the recessed spots with some sturdy rebar.

Thank you!
We are currently at this stage.
For our "lighting plan" (For @11ant in quotation marks 🙂 ), we went through the rooms based on their use and position in the house and placed lights according to our preferences. Since I am reluctant to rely solely on intuition for such matters, and we don’t care about fancy lighting or want to invest a large sum, we visited a practical lighting store and had two talks with the master electrician there. The first meeting was to get to know us and our house. Two weeks later, he showed us his marked-up floor plan with specific lighting suggestions using fixtures from their showroom.

We asked our general contractor about the cost of a recessed spot in the ribbed concrete slab. He quoted us €86.

Is there anything else we should clarify?
