ᐅ Which outdoor furniture is best for a terrace?

We are currently considering which outdoor furniture to choose for our patio. I would prefer something comfortable to lounge in since we will already have a dining set in the gazebo. That’s why I like the idea of a lounge set. However, I'm wondering how durable these pieces are. Our patio is not covered, and the furniture would have to stay outside during winter as well.

I was thinking of something like this:

Terrace seating by the sea: gray rattan sofa set, blue cushions, glass table with hydrangea flower

Set rattan outdoor table with chairs by the pool, mountain landscape and stone wall in the background.

The furniture is made of aluminum with rattan.

Does anyone have experience with this type of furniture? Can it withstand all weather conditions if left outside? Would protective covers be enough?

What kind of outdoor furniture have you chosen for your patio, and why?

Hello????
Show us your terrace, since you asked about terrace flooring and stuff last year. This just doesn’t look right at all
Not finished yet. But it’s nothing special anyway.

Our lounge always stood in full sun, first on a terrace, and in recent years on our south-facing balcony. Due to the large windows right behind the lounge, the furniture got “double” exposure to the sun. This caused the individual pieces to crack, initially only in spots, later extensively.
Wow, thanks for the pictures. That’s exactly my concern. We have a south-facing terrace, and the trees will take decades to provide any shade. We would cover the furniture with “covers” (is that the right word?) – you can buy those to fit, and order a big box for the cushions as well (those are available too). But rain is usually less of an issue; it’s the sun that causes most damage. And you wouldn’t usually cover the furniture when it’s sunny.

The metal sheets you made actually look really good, I think. But they must get quite hot, right?

Just google polyrattan weave. You will find flat weaves like those shown by @Pierre and round weaves. The flat ones are much more prone to damage.

Therefore, I cannot recommend polyrattan furniture. I covered the damaged areas with metal sheeting, which at least extended their use by another 2 summers. The seating surfaces were protected and reinforced with wood.
This is what I was referring to at the beginning. Furniture with flat strands is no good. On the other hand, the synthetic wicker imitations of cane last for years without problems. However, they are more expensive.

For example, this:

Does anyone have a recommendation for quality garden furniture that doesn’t look like it belongs to grandparents? A 240cm (95-inch) table made of wood and metal?

I can’t say much about the durability of our "rattan" patio set after just under a year. It’s a cheap item from OBI. It stays uncovered on the terrace in rain and snow, partly because I would hear the rain on a tarp all night otherwise. Bringing the cushions under the roof almost every day is a hassle and takes up space. However, we always did it anyway—also because we have many birds and didn’t want their droppings on the cushions.

But above all, pay attention to a comfortable sitting and reclining position. I was bothered by the short backrest on the square lounge furniture. The adjustable chairs with a high backrest are much more comfortable.

Additionally, it was important to me that the pieces have high legs so the wooden terrace can dry well repeatedly.

I think it's great, I saw this with a user here about 2-3 years ago
