Hello everyone, I’m currently looking into how Ikea Hemnes furniture can be optimized specifically for small hallways. The Hemnes series is generally quite solid and sturdy, which can often be a challenge for narrow, confined entrance areas. I’m especially interested in ways to modify or complement the furniture so that the available space is used as efficiently as possible without making the hallway feel cramped. Adjustments in depth or height might be helpful, as well as multifunctionality or clever storage solutions. What ideas or experiences do you have to make Hemnes products more user-friendly and space-saving for small hallways? Looking forward to your suggestions!

Is there a detailed list of the furniture pieces you want to modify?I am planning a shoe cabinet with doors, possibly a wall shelf to match, and a small bench with storage that should also fit the Hemnes series. All should remain as slim as possible to avoid significantly blocking the 120cm (47 inches) width.

Great topic! 🙂 Hemnes furniture can be easily customized – for example, by changing the color or using new handles that look less bulky. For small hallways, you could also consider making the furniture more open, such as using shelves instead of closed cabinets. This makes the entrance area feel more spacious and airy. Just give it a try and be bold!

Especially with a series like Hemnes, where the dark-stained wood can sometimes appear visually heavy. Shelves also offer more flexibility in use, and visible items can be hidden as needed with baskets or boxes.
