Hello everyone,

I am currently considering which video door entry system to buy for our single-family house on a hillside.
I find the video feature very useful since our living and dining area is located in the basement, so you don’t have to go upstairs every time the doorbell rings.

There are many versions on the market, and unfortunately, they vary significantly in price.
Do you have any recommendations on which ones to buy?
What do you think about this one?

It really feels like only the GIRA and Busch Welcome doorbells look somewhat high-quality. The indoor unit is usually not the issue, but the doorbell itself often looks quite shabby... Do you perhaps have any suggestions that haven’t been mentioned here yet?

I can only recommend the Intercom Goliath. Very high quality, especially the outdoor unit. It offers far more features than Busch-Jaeger and similar brands. It costs about half the price. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Could you maybe post a photo of it installed?

2N Verso IP. Great device! The 10-button keypad can also be replaced with an Ekey fingerprint reader, RFID reader, touch display, or MDU keypads. Or you can simply leave it out entirely.

Wall security panel with numeric keypad and card reader in the spotlight.

In the Far East, you can also find intercom systems from Dahua. These are identical in design to the Goliath models and cost only half the price. Of course, you need to be aware that there is no support available in case of issues.
I will be installing the system soon. However, the test setup already worked perfectly.

Hello,
I was also looking for this, but I specifically wanted keyless entry. It was really hard to find...

I also saw the DoorBird, but the problem with it is that the IP traffic doesn’t stay within your local home network; everything goes through DoorBird’s servers. That means if someone hacks their servers (and yes, they can be hacked just like any others!!), someone could open all the front doors worldwide connected to a DoorBird with a single button press. That is a complete no-go and absolutely unacceptable!

Best regards,
Andreas

That’s not entirely correct. All DoorBird units can also be accessed via the SIP protocol. This means you’re not dependent on the app and can integrate the unit into any system that supports SIP, such as AVM Fritzbox, Asterisk, Control4, and other smart home systems. In this way, traffic remains purely local if configured accordingly.
