Hi!
What do you think about this master bathroom layout?
We didn’t really want the shower to be so hidden since we plan to outfit it in a high-quality and stylish way. It would be nice if it could be more visible, not just for showering. But during the plumbing planning, we were advised to keep it like this (because of the water pipes).
What’s your opinion? Or does anyone have an idea on how to create more visibility into the shower?
The two washbasins are marked incorrectly. We will only use one washbasin (1m wide (39 inches)). Our idea is to move the bathtub to where the washbasins are currently shown and place the washbasin on the right wall instead. We want the bathtub to have a prominent spot in the room instead of being “in the corner” when we bathe.
Currently planned components:
Toilet: Duravit Happy D.2 extended version, 25500900001
Washbasin: Villeroy & Boch Venticello 1000x500mm (39x20 inches), 4104ALR1
Bathtub: still considering either Villeroy & Boch Squaro Edge 12 Combipool Invisible (UIP190SQE2B1V96) or a Kaldewei Conoduo, both 190x90cm (75x35 inches) (235200010001)
Shower:
Villeroy & Boch shower tray Futurion or Squaro Infinity
Hansgrohe Axor ShowerSolutions thermostat module Select 530 / 90 for 3 outlets, 18356000
Hansgrohe Axor Shower Solutions 350 1jet overhead shower with ceiling connection, chrome, 26035000
Keuco meTime_spa waterfall showerhead, 59982010000
Hansgrohe Axor Starck 1jet handheld shower, chrome, 10531000
Looking forward to your feedback!

The architect thinks that the space around the washbasin is too tight and suggests either lowering the washbasin so it’s no longer centered or switching from a 90cm (35 inch) wide bathtub to an 80cm (31 inch) wide one.
An 80cm (31 inch) width would also mean a 180cm (71 inch) length, and at 189cm (6 ft 2 in) tall, I was actually quite happy with the 190cm (75 inch) bathtub. I’m leaning toward lowering the sink and still need to think about what to do with the long free wall.
Or does anyone have other ideas?

I would also consider whether the shower could be narrower. We have a 1m x 1.40m (3.3 ft x 4.6 ft) shower. Sometimes that already feels like too much space for me. An additional 25cm (10 inches) might sound luxurious at first, but it also makes the shower more open and drafty, whereas most people prefer it cozy and warm while showering.

R.Hotzenplotz12 Mar 2018 16:14Widening the shower was exactly what I wanted the architect to plan for me now. I would like a 140x120 cm (55x47 inches) shower tray or at least a 120x120 cm (47x47 inches) tray.
I think you feel much freer in a shower that size, and since we are going for a very high-quality shower, I believe the space should reflect that.
Currently, we have a shower where you stand completely open in the room. That, of course, is the other extreme.

How about a slight tilt of the wall behind the washbasin, narrower by the toilet, and only as wide as it is now at the end of the shower (also with the washbasin moved downward according to the plan)?
Show us. Preferably a photo, not just a floor plan.

If I remember correctly, the walk-in closet is to the right of the bathroom, and the bedroom is next to the closet, right?
Would it be possible, as a preliminary idea, to take a few centimeters from either the closet or the bedroom and move the right bathroom wall further to the right?
I seem to recall that the bedroom is already large enough...
A floor plan would be helpful here.

How about slightly angling the wall behind the sink, making it narrower by the toilet, and only as wide as it is now at the end of the shower (also shifting the sink downward according to the plan)?I’ll take a look at that right away.....

I seem to recall that the bedroom is already large enough anyway...
A floor plan would be helpful here.I need to take another look. If at all, there’s minimal space in the bedroom. None in the walk-in closet. Here is the floor plan.
