ᐅ Sealing Issue with Single-Lever, Single-Hole Washbasin Faucet 01092283

Hello,

I have a problem with installing a single-lever, single-hole washbasin faucet from HANSAMIX (01092283). The pre-assembled base gasket seems to be too thick, because when inserting the faucet, it sits about 3 mm (1/8 inch) above the rubber gasket. Of course, the gasket is meant to provide some spacing to seal the base of the faucet when tightening. But when I attach and tighten the crescent washer, the faucet does not pull down but instead tilts forward toward the basin rather than settling flat and vertical on the mounting surface. This can’t be normal, right?

Is this a design flaw? Given the price and brand, it shouldn’t be an issue. But the gasket is definitely too thick. What do you think, and what would you recommend doing?

Here are some pictures of the described problem:

When tightening, did you possibly push the faucet forward or the threaded rod backward?

No. On the contrary. I kept the fixture as straight as possible to prevent any misalignment.

... in one of the pictures, it just looks like the hole isn’t continuous

I still don’t understand what you’re seeing there? Which picture are you referring to? Which hole do you mean? The one in the washbasin? Of course, it’s continuous—if you mean “from top to bottom.” How else would I have threaded the flexible hoses through when I took the first three photos? 😉

How tightly did you tighten the nut?

I only tightened the nut by hand at first, because I remembered that the crescent washer starts to bend if you keep tightening it further. I had this experience some time ago with another faucet (kitchen sink). To avoid bending the washer in this case as well but still check if everything fits, I only tightened it by hand. Since the faucet is already tilted forward as is, I figured that if I tightened it fully, I would just bend the crescent washer, but the faucet would never sit flush because the gasket seems to be too thick.

Since the threaded rod isn’t centered, the front part pulls against the washbasin first.

Are you suggesting that I should try tightening it firmly?

Hello,
I checked my documents but couldn’t find anything suitable. I also didn’t find an installation manual.
I can’t shake the feeling that something might have been overlooked.
So, you screwed on the hoses, threaded in the threaded rod (if it wasn’t pre-assembled), then placed the faucet in the designated hole and fixed everything from below in the following order:
1. slid on the mounting plate (5.3)
2. placed the crescent-shaped plate (5.5) on top, and
3. secured everything with the nut (5.6).
Is that correct?

If nothing works and you do have an installation manual, please upload it here as a PDF. It can’t be that it just won’t work. 😉

Edit:
Don’t tighten it with force; it should already hold well if screwed in by hand.

Best regards,
Sigi

Hello

With hand tightening, it will not be flush either.
Tighten the nut "firmly" and it will fit.

Tighten the nut to a “normal tightness,” then it will fit.
But remember, after tight comes loose. 🙂 😉

I need to ask something that might be off-topic:

The attached installation manual states
To maintain warranty rights, HANSA products must be installed exclusively by a qualified plumbing professional. In case of complaints or unexpected defects, please contact your installer.

Now, I am not a plumber, and my wife and I are considering whether to delegate the entire issue to such a professional. The advantage would be maintaining the warranty. On the other hand, the question is what kind of warranty claims could realistically arise within 2 years on a premium faucet.

I considered posting this as a separate topic, as it might be of interest to others in the future. If that is preferred, please let me know. Then I will start a new thread and ask a moderator to delete this post.

Same here. That’s usually the problem when something seems too simple. 🤨

So you tightened the hoses,
No. I wanted to mount the faucet on the washbasin first so that I don’t have to crawl into the cabinet below once it’s wall-mounted. It’s easier to just place the basin and then connect the hoses.

No, this is pre-assembled.

Exactly, just those two parts, since only they belong to the mounting kit and were included.

Unfortunately I don’t have a scanner and can only provide photos of it.
