Hello,

I have a problem with installing a single-lever, single-hole washbasin faucet from HANSAMIX (01092283). The pre-assembled base gasket seems to be too thick, because when inserting the faucet, it sits about 3 mm (1/8 inch) above the rubber gasket. Of course, the gasket is meant to provide some spacing to seal the base of the faucet when tightening. But when I attach and tighten the crescent washer, the faucet does not pull down but instead tilts forward toward the basin rather than settling flat and vertical on the mounting surface. This can’t be normal, right?

Is this a design flaw? Given the price and brand, it shouldn’t be an issue. But the gasket is definitely too thick. What do you think, and what would you recommend doing?

Here are some pictures of the described problem:

I would bet that you need to apply more torque to the nut. Which tool are you using to tighten it? As long as you’re not using a long lever, the plate should withstand it and the gasket should compress evenly.

Open-end or ring spanner (wrench). Unfortunately, I don’t have a torque wrench. As mentioned, I’m not a plumber.

Has anyone ever considered that the gasket might not be the right one, maybe the wrong one was included from the factory?

Something similar happened to us. 😉

Sure, but how am I supposed to check that?

@EveundGerd I share that assumption, but the fitting should still be compatible.
@MaxMumann did you install it that way?

According to the parts list for this fitting, the number for this part is 59913653.

Here are pictures of the exact part (centering ring with gasket) that I am referring to.

White round plastic ring with mounting holes, presumably a plumbing or building services part.

As can be seen somewhat blurry in the second picture, the gasket is actually very tall and it is not an installation error, as suspected by @EveundGerd.

Exactly. It can’t be done any other way because the sealing ring is already pre-assembled. The only loose parts I have left are the chipboard piece or the crescent (part 5.5) and the fastening nut (part 5.6), which are listed as the fastening set (part 5.7) in the parts list. These are attached from underneath onto the pre-assembled threaded pin (part 5.12).
