Hello! My sister wants to install a swimming pool outdoors in the garden and is considering which material would be better for the surrounding ground: wood or stone. Is it a matter of personal preference, or is one option more practical than the other?
Hi Martin,
You’re right when you say that wood looks much nicer. I also like wood a lot, but if you lay stone slabs, you’re on the safe side. I’ve seen several pools where everything was made of wood, and I can only say that most of them look terrible! That’s not how I would want my pool to be. So it’s better to choose stone.

if you choose wood, you should ensure good drainage. If the wood cannot dry properly, it will become slippery over time. Additionally, fungi can then settle there and eventually damage the wood.
