Hello! My sister wants to install a swimming pool outdoors in the garden and is considering which material would be better for the surrounding ground: wood or stone. Is it a matter of personal preference, or is one option more practical than the other?

If you choose stone, cleaning is easiest. If you have a pressure washer, you can achieve the best results with it. Stone always looks nice, and if you use a rough stone, it is also the safest option because you won’t slip when stepping out of the water with wet feet.

Hey! I would also lean towards stone construction due to the constant moisture. The cost difference is not that significant, and besides, there is no risk of mold or similar issues.

Hello,

I would definitely not recommend wood. It can easily develop mold, and it’s also quite easy to get a splinter, which is obviously unpleasant. I can only say that our experience with stone has always been good, and we have installed many stone slabs around pools. Which type of stone you choose is really a matter of personal preference. However, I would go for slabs that are highly abrasion-resistant and slip-resistant, due to the risk of slipping!!!!

Since the wood needs to be specially treated due to constant moisture, I would rather recommend stone. From what I have observed, there are the fewest problems with it.

Hi, I would strongly recommend using stone. In the long run, I think it’s simply much better. Additionally, repairs around the pool are easier to do with stone.

I find stone is better because of mold resistance and it is also low maintenance, does not need oiling or other treatments, and looks nice when you choose attractive stone.
