Hello everyone,
I would like to know which replacement parts for IKEA Billy shelves can be relatively easily replaced without requiring special tools or prior DIY experience. I am especially interested in whether damaged screws, shelves, or even the back panels can be replaced without much hassle. It would be helpful if you could also briefly explain the best approach and what to watch out for to avoid any stability issues afterwards. Thanks in advance for your tips!

If you want, I can also write you a small step-by-step guide on how to replace a shelf board and keep the shelf optimally stable. Do you need that?Thank you, that sounds very helpful! I would especially appreciate such a guide for the shelf boards, as I plan to try it myself for the first time. If there are also some tips on installing back panels or screws, and what to avoid, that would be great too.

I would especially appreciate a guide for replacing the shelvesHere is a brief guide for replacing shelves in Billy bookcases, including tips for back panels and screws:
1. Shelves:
- Remove all items from the shelf and take out the metal pins.
- Carefully lift the shelf out (tilt slightly).
- Purchase new shelves that match the model size.
- Place the new shelves onto the metal pins.
- Screw the metal pins back in fully.
2. Replacing the back panel:
- Gently tap the back panel out of the nails with a small hammer.
- Attach the new back panel using light pressure and small nails.
- Caution: Use nails that are not too long to avoid damaging the wood.
3. Replacing screws and fittings:
- Check beforehand that the new screws fit exactly.
- It’s best to remove the old screws and take them as a sample to the hardware store.
Important: Throughout the entire process, place the bookcase on a flat surface to prevent it from slipping and avoid forcing any parts to prevent cracks.
Good luck!
