Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of my new IKEA Platsa furniture and want to make sure the joints are especially strong and durable. Therefore, I have a detailed question: Which screw methods or joining techniques do you recommend that are particularly reliable for Platsa furniture? I’m interested in tips regarding the choice of screws, insertion depth, torque settings, as well as any useful additional measures like glue or reinforcements. Who has experience with the standard connections and might know alternatives to increase stability? I appreciate all advice, including mistakes to avoid.

I know the feeling of being unsure during assembly because you want it to be stable yet simple. Especially with Platsa, I’ve had good experiences by patiently screwing it together.

It’s important not to rush: rather, carefully insert the screws, not too tight, and check them again after a few weeks.

It also helps to use small wooden dowels or additional brackets at points where the cabinets will bear weight. That gives me more confidence.

Does anyone have tips on how to keep screw connections flexible with particleboard without them becoming loose?

This is an interesting question because this is exactly where errors often occur. The key is not to make the joints "flexible" with sheet wood, but rather to keep them free of play and tension at the same time.

My recommendation:
- Always screw in slowly using the correct tool.
- Wood glue helps, but apply it sparingly.
- For larger surfaces, additionally stabilize with metal brackets or crosswise battens.

This way, you prevent the connection from loosening while maintaining a stable structure.
