Hello everyone,
I bought a used old Billy bookshelf from the 1990s. Unfortunately, the screws needed for assembly are missing.
I’m looking for these screws (silver-colored) that have a hole in the middle, through which other screws (black) are inserted. The whole thing is then tightened from the outside using that IKEA Allen key. It looks something like this:

New Billy shelves no longer have these screws, but instead use plastic ones that don’t fit.
I already went to the IKEA store, but they don’t have the matching screws anymore.
An inquiry at IKEA headquarters didn’t help either—they just referred me back to the store.
What I’m trying now is to buy another old Billy bookshelf, dismantle it, and keep only the screws, but so far that hasn’t worked out.
Are these screws available outside of IKEA and what are they called?
Or does anyone have extra screws?
I’m willing to pay well.
Thanks and best regards
Mathildeffm

Mathildeffm23 Mar 2013 18:13I’ll check in my basement over the weekend; I still have some of those screws from an old Ikea cabinet down there.
If I find them, I’ll upload a picture here – but it might be on Sunday!M

I found some anchors, old kitchen hinges, two old Applad doors, and the assembly instructions for my 2.22m (7 ft 3 in) tall Pax wardrobe... unfortunately, all the old screws are gone; my wife thinks we gave them away along with two base cabinets from the kitchen... Sorry

IKEA-Freund26 Mar 2013 20:22The screws should be available at any reasonably well-stocked hardware store – sometimes individually (like at Bauhaus?), sometimes in packs of four screws with "bolts" (or nuts).
Best regards,
IKEA-Freund
PS: "Cross nut bolts" is the keyword – just try searching for it online.
