Hello everyone, I am about to assemble the IKEA Platsa system and am wondering which screwdrivers or cordless drills are most suitable for this furniture. My requirements are that the tool should be compact, reliable, and have enough torque to tighten the various connections easily and securely. Are there any recommendations for models or technical features that are particularly advantageous? I am also interested in whether special angle attachments or bits might be needed and if anyone has experience with battery life or ease of use during longer assembly sessions. Thank you in advance for your support!

I would like to briefly explain why choosing the right screwdriver with adjustable torque is particularly important when assembling IKEA Platsa units: These modules are often assembled and disassembled multiple times, and the parts are relatively delicate. Therefore, it is advisable to use a tool that offers adjustable torque and isn’t too powerful, to prevent splitting or stripping the screws. At the same time, the screws need to be tightened enough to ensure stability. Many recommend cordless screwdrivers between 12 and 18 volts. It’s not just about raw power, but also ergonomics and ease of handling. An important detail is the length of the bits since some screws are located deep inside. Although angle attachments are not essential, they make screwing behind and under cabinet modules much easier. I prefer a compact model with a torque setting and have had positive experiences with 14.4 V. A good charger and spare battery make a difference when assembling multiple units.
