Hello everyone,

We have purchased a condominium for an older family member, which needs some renovation before moving in. In particular, the living room and bedroom still have carpet flooring, which will be replaced with hardwood.

I would actually like to use natural oak wide-plank flooring, but the interior doors are made of a different type of wood (see picture).

Could you help me identify the wood species or color of the doors (installed around 1995) and advise on suitable hardwood flooring to match? I would prefer not to replace the doors. The flooring should also be fairly durable.

Thank you very much for your help!

Looks like beech wood.
How many doors are there? You can quite easily replace them yourself.

In total, 4 doors and one sliding door.
Doing the work myself is not feasible due to the distance to the condominium, and for my father, the limiting factor is his craftsmanship skills at his age...
What costs should one expect for replacing a door?

I would estimate around 400 for a standard white door, including removal and disposal of the old one.

Painting the old ones white would also be an option.

The wood could also be oak with a stain finish.
Maple would provide a nice contrast. There are now very durable laminates available with a maple parquet look. Genuine maple yellows over the years when exposed to sunlight.
