Hello everyone, I am currently planning my new kitchen using the Ikea Metod system and considering which materials work well together. My question is: which materials complement Ikea Metod kitchen fronts and countertops, both visually and functionally? I want to focus on durability, ease of maintenance, and design, as I would like to enjoy my kitchen for a long time. Are there material combinations that have proven especially successful or others that are less suitable? I would appreciate any experiences, tips, and perhaps suggestions for alternative countertops or handle solutions!

Typical mistakes: combinations that are too delicate (foil fronts with cheap wood panels or low-quality laminate) can break easily. Absolutely – that’s exactly what I’ve seen too. But no need to worry! If you choose quartz or wooden countertops and take good care of the cabinet fronts, the Metod system can really hold up! Your tip about edge sealing, mentioned by tarju41, is also invaluable! Keep going, everyone planning with Metod – you’ve got this! 😊

Laminate worktops are well suited for Metod. They are affordable, easy to maintain, and available in many designs. That is correct, however, laminate of good quality should be chosen because cheaper laminate boards are more likely to swell at the edges, especially if moisture gets in. For heavy use, quartz stone or composite materials are often more durable. Additionally, during installation, it is important to ensure that cut edges are properly sealed to maximize the lifespan.
