Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a new wardrobe and am particularly interested in the Ikea PAX models. I would especially like to know which PAX wardrobe models offer truly flexible interior fittings.

I am thinking of adjustable shelves, flexible drawer systems, and modular elements that can be easily reconfigured, for example, if storage needs change. Not only the basic standard models, but also versions that can be individually customized with different interior fittings.

Are there models that stand out for having especially variable interior layouts, possibly with more options than others? I would appreciate a more detailed assessment of which specific PAX variants are especially recommended when it comes to flexibility inside.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you, Kinbu, for the detailed and additional assessment.

I would like to add that during installation, attention should also be paid to how the hanging systems and the interior fittings work together. With some Pax models, it is easier to install multiple clothes rails at different heights, while the construction of others somewhat limits the options.

PAX frames with greater cabinet height are more versatile because you can add more tiers or variations inside.

Exactly – especially with taller models, it’s worthwhile to invest in additional interior components such as trouser racks or adjustable shelves. It is also important to consider the maximum load capacity of the shelves, which varies across Pax.

It would be helpful to know your room dimensions or primary usage to provide more specific recommendations.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks to everyone who has helped so far with their detailed and varied answers!

To add: The cabinet width should be closer to 100 cm (40 inches), as I want to store a lot of clothing including jackets, sweaters, and accessories. Vegetables and shoes will be planned separately.

It is especially important to me that I can easily modify the interior after a few months, for example by adding more shelves or fitting drawers, without having to disassemble the entire cabinet.

Some of the larger frame models offer higher load capacity for the shelves, which can be useful for heavy storage.

That sounds suitable to me, as I have several heavy winter jackets that need ample space.

The flexibility here comes less from specific models and more from the freedom to adjust the interior elements yourself at any time.

I also see this as key, so I mainly want a frame that supports this as well as possible.

If anyone has specific tips for interior fittings for such wide, high-load PAX models, I’d love to hear them!
