There will be a total of 5 shelves, mainly intended to hold books and filing folders. I expect the load to be medium to heavy, especially with the filing folders. Your idea with the wooden strips sounds interesting – do you think it can be implemented afterwards without disrupting the overall look?

Attaching wooden battens afterwards is straightforward; they are simply screwed to the inside of the side panels. However, it is important to use small screws that do not damage the material.
An alternative option is to secure the shelves with additional metal brackets on the sides – this provides even more stability and reduces sagging.
