We can't decide which tiles to choose.
Porcelain stoneware or ceramic; polished or matte!

What have you decided on?

THANK YOU!!!

I assume that if you ask 1000 different people your question, you will get 1000 different answers. It really depends on individual preferences and taste.

We were just at the tile center today (show day). Our tendency is leaning towards a Mediterranean style – I can’t even say yet whether we’ll go with porcelain stoneware or ceramic. We haven’t had a consultation so far. We are only sure that we don’t want a polished surface. We have almost slipped on such a high-gloss tile while wearing shoes – so how would it be with wet feet?
Also, in the floorboard area, we will probably go with tiles where dirt isn’t immediately visible and where cleaning effort won’t be too high.

So far, these are our initial considerations.

How long have you been looking? We searched for about a year and visited around 15 different stores before we knew what we actually wanted. Now we are going with beige matte porcelain stoneware with a textured surface, size 60cm x 60cm (24in x 24in). However, we are only tiling the bathrooms, and even there only the essential areas, so the cost is still manageable.

So, we decided to use tiles only in the bathrooms (guest toilet + bathroom), specifically so-called Solnhofen tiles (split face). These are natural stone tiles with a Mediterranean style. The cost is about €60-70 / m² (approximately $7-8 / ft²). Just try searching for examples online.

Thank you for your answers. We have now also come up with some ideas! We will choose 30 x 60 cm (12 x 24 inches) fine stoneware tiles, Texas beige.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Tiles are only used in our bathrooms.
20x20 cm (8x8 inches) white glossy tiles on the walls, matte for the floor. Possibly also light gray for the floor.
Tiles that are considered trendy and stylish today will be outdated again in five years, and then you have to live with them for many years (or even decades).

Color is added to the bathrooms through furniture, wall paint, and bathroom rugs.
