Hello everyone,
I am currently planning the setup of my new living room and have chosen IKEA Platsa furniture, mainly for its versatility and modular design. Now my question is: Which colors work well with IKEA Platsa furniture to create a harmonious and contemporary overall look?
I am particularly interested in shades for walls, decorations, and other furniture pieces that can complement both the classic white Platsa frame and the various door styles.
It is important to me that the colors remain “modern” for a longer period and don’t go out of style quickly – similar to a timeless design approach. Does anyone have experience or recommendations regarding color tones that blend especially well?
Thanks in advance for any constructive advice!

To answer the question in more detail: Platsa furniture is very versatile in combination with colors due to its simple, white design. Muted natural shades or earth tones are especially recommended, as they promote warmth and calmness.
- A soft gray on the wall works very well and adds a modern touch.
- Warm sand and beige tones make the space appear friendly and inviting.
- For bolder accents, darker teal or a subdued mustard yellow can create contrast without being overpowering.
If you are aiming for a timeless look, it is best to avoid very bright colors and opt for a subtle color palette instead. Additionally, textiles and decorative elements made from natural materials like linen or wood can positively enhance the overall effect.

Super interesting question! 🙂 I think you can get really creative with the Platsa furniture.
I agree, but I’ve also had great experiences with fresh accents, like a bold apple green or a clear sky blue on the wall as a highlight. It really adds energy without overpowering the furniture.
I love that idea! Especially mustard yellow can look amazing and make your room stand out. Don’t be afraid to bring in a bit of color! Good luck with your decorating 🙂

I recommend limiting the color palette to a maximum of two to three main colors.
- Classic white on the Platsa furniture can be complemented by rich gray tones on the walls,
- combined with light-toned wooden furniture for warmth,
- and accents in matte anthracite or blue for texture.
This way, you achieve a balanced and modern atmosphere that works well in the long term. Bright colors are easier to change in decor than on walls or furniture.
